International Nurses Day: Celebrating our Palliative Care Nurses

Pain and Palliative Care Society, Calicut
Ms Meenakumari V is the Care Coordinator at the Pain and Palliative Care Society (PPCS).
Ms Meenakumari joined the team of PPCS as their ‘first volunteer’ in 1993. The team at PPCS then promoted her as Nurse in 2001, after she was qualified and completed rendering 8 years of voluntary service at the organisation. She then grew to become the Care Coordinator at PPCS in 2010.
The team at PPCS is proud to share that she is the recipient of the ‘Mahila Tilakam’ Award that was presented by the Government of Kerala, in 2012.
In addition to her practical and hands-on services, Ms Meenakumari also shows interest in academics. She has published a paper on ‘Death bed visions in Palliative Care Patients’ in an International Journal and has presented several papers and posters at international conferences organized by the IAPC.
